At the end of March, CTS were pleased to welcome more than 100 participants at the Traffic Specialist Lawyers’ Seminar. The Seminar, now for the sixth time, offered a broad spectrum on interesting lectures, inter alia, on themes such as manipulation, theft, rear impact collisions and various administrative offenses. The seminar was traditionally concluded with a high-speed crash test.

Following this successful start into the seminar season 2017, the Insurance Seminar in cooperation with Accidenta GmbH was held on 07.04.2017. Once again, almost 100 participants from the insurance industry were able to attend lectures on current topics in the area of accident reconstruction. In addition to a rear impact collision before the lunch break, participants were once again offered a spectacular crash test to round off the seminar.

At the beginning of March, crashtest-service was again present at the German Road Supplier Day in Cologne. On the exhibition stand, interested parties were given the opportunity to gain an insight into CTS's service portfolio. In particular, accredited crash tests for vehicle restraint systems were the main focus.

In the middle of March, CTS welcomed students from the German Police College once again to the company premises. The 20 participants were given the opportunity to attend a crash test in combination with a visit to the crash facility. In addition to a lecture given by Dipl.-Ing. Peter Schimmelpfennig on current test areas of CTS, Stefan Theil also presented some aspects from the field of accident reconstruction. The afternoon was rounded off by Dr. rer. Nat. Ingo Holtkötter, who reported on the manipulation of vehicles.

It exploded, crashed and burnt on the crash test facility of CTS in Münster. Where vehicles in a controlled manner usually are crashed, this time the facility of crashtest-service was served as a setting for film and television. Under supervision of the fire brigade, a vehicle was blown up for a cinema production. A team of about 20 persons, consisting of cameramen, directors, actors and stuntmen rented the crash facility completely for the time of the shooting.

HS-Schoch tested in the previous weeks a prototype of a rear underride guard on the crash test facility in Münster. The primary development goal is to save lives. When a vehicle rear-end collides with a semi-trailer, with speeds over 40 km/h are the chances of survival for the vehicles occupants virtually next to none. The new rear underride guard from HS-Schoch offers significantly more protection in comparison to conventional systems. With this new system, minor injuries of the occupants in modern vehicles can be expected as a result of impact speeds of 65 km/h. This was confirmed through crash tests carried out at CTS. Construction work for a third test track on the crash test area of CTS is currently well underway. In particular within the accredited area of CTS, is therefore further flexibility in the crash test organisation possible. For this reason, as of February 2017, an additional acceleration track over 100m long will be available for crash tests (in particularly for traffic restraint systems).

Our 2nd Münsteraner Crashday and 5th expert seminar for accident reconstruction took place last Thursday and Friday. Participants were presented a wide range of current topics in accident reconstruction. We would like to sincerely thank all spokesmen. In addition, crash tests are always a special aspect to our seminars. These two seminars officially ended this year’s seminar season. Seminar dates for 2017 will be announced on our website within the coming weeks. We would also like to thank all participants for the confidence shown to us.
